Why is a Tripod Style Repair Stand Better?
Since our company began, we've always designed and engineered repair stands with tripod style bases. It's been a low-key obsession and we've stuck with this design for all of our portable bike repair stands.
So what's the big deal? What makes a bike repair stand with tripod legs better than other types of bicycle repair stands?
Check out this summary of why a tripod bike repair stand is simply better.
The primary advantage of a tripod stand is stability. With three legs to spread and stabilize the load of your project, it's really stable and easy to to work on.
Furthermore, the tripod legs can easily be oriented to support and balance the load of your repair. You can reorient the head as needed and therefore your project for maximum stability and, weight capability on the tripod. Orienting the clamp head over one of the legs or between the legs, depending on what you're working on, adds stability and minimizes tipping of the bike that you're working on.
Another reason why tripod style repair stands are better is because they can be situated on uneven ground. With three secure points of contact on the ground, you don't have a long run of tubing that needs to stabilize on an uneven surface. Basically three feet contact on the ground at point locations, and the stand is very stable as a result.
And then finally, a tripod style repair stand is very compact. When it's folded up, the legs fold against the main tube and you get a really compact, easy to carry out form factor when the stand is not in use.
